Howard Mackey has been in the municipal bond industry for 32 years, beginning his career as an institutional bond salesman. For the past 22 years, he has managed sales, trading and underwriting desks. Since joining Rice Financial in 2006, Mr. Mackey has served as a managing underwriter on more than 765 issues totaling $205 billion.* Mr. Mackey directs a team of seasoned institutional salespeople and underwriters averaging 29 years** of experience.
As an experienced institutional sales and underwriting executive, Mr. Mackey offers clients broad structuring, pricing and analytical expertise. He has successfully produced some of the lowest cost financings (versus competitors) as the senior manager for such well known issuers as the State of Connecticut, the City of New York, the New York State Dormitory Authority, and Washington, D.C.
Before joining Rice Financial, Mr. Mackey served as Executive Vice President at M. R. Beal & Company, heading the Municipal Bond Sales, Trading and Underwriting Department for eight years. His earlier experience includes Pryor, McClendon, Counts & Co, where he served as Managing Director and Partner and was able to significantly increase the firm’s distribution and underwriting capability. In a prior position at Glickenhaus & Company, he served as Vice President in the Institutional Municipal Bond Sales and Trading Department.
Mr. Mackey earned an MBA in finance from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in business finance from Howard University.
